Development of an Automated Fish Drying System in Purok 2 Bangkusay, Brgy. Dalahican, Lucena City
Area of Research
Abstract
In the Philippines, fish drying is one of the most common methods in preserving seafood for many years. The traditional fish drying method is the practice that is still commonly used which involves exposing the freshly caught fish to the sun for several house. This study is developed to provide solutions to the several challenges such as insect infestations, inconstant environmental condition, and in inconsistent product quality that are encountered by traditional fish drying practices while maintaining the quality of the fish product. This study focuses on the development of an Automated FIsh Drying System aimed at enhancing the preservation and quality of dried fish in Purok 2 Bangkusay, Brgy, Dalahican, Lucena City. The researchers utilized a variety of components to develop a functional Automated Fish Drying System, including a microcontroller Arduino Uno R3, DHT22 Temperature and Humidity Sensor, LCD 20x4 with l2c adapter for display, Infrared Ceramic Emitter for heat generation, AC blower fan for air circulation, Piezo Buzzer for notifications, Power Supply, and Two-way channel Relay for controlling heating elements and fan operation. Lastly, the researchers conducted testing and evaluation on Purok 2 Bangkusay, Brgy. Dalahican, Lucena City. The result from the respondents are as follow: functionality has 4.45 (Strongly Agree), wi th the overall result of 4.27 (Strongly Agree). The results from the espondents are discussed, documented, and carefully analyzed for further improvements.
