E-Senyas: Numeric Hand Gesture Tutorial System for Hearing Impaired Children using Pixel Search Algorithm
Area of Research
Abstract
Hand gesture recognition is one of the areas under artificial intelligence which covers human computer interaction and considering methods used to implement gestures that can be understood by computers. This research study aims to develop a numeric hand gesture tutorial system for hearing impaired children entitled “ESenyas.” The researchers used pixel search algorithm in detecting certain gestures. Pixel search algorithm would be able to search pixel in a given region that would be used to search for the color value of each finger. The children will take lessons and exercises provided in the tutorial to help them with their learning process. Results will be given after answering the exercises to keep track of the progress of every child taking the tutorial. As part of the testing procedure, researchers will select educators or teachers from schools who offer special programs with such impairments to use the tutorial and to check the efficiency of the system. As a result of the evaluation, the system got an “Excellent” in the overall rating of the tutorial system.
