FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO FINANCIAL INCLUSIVENESS OF SELECTED STUDENTS OF AN HEI IN LUCENA CITY

Abstract

Students are considered as one of the most vulnerable members in our society together with poor people and the elderly. It is seen that the stage of adulthood is very overwhelming that some people during this phase have difficulties on managing their finances. In this study, the factors contributing to the personal aspect and domestic aspect of students will be determined. The study will be conducted in an HEI in Lucena City, particularly in Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation. It aims to prepare the students on how they can be financially smart and it will provide the financial institutions the necessary and additional information on the preferences of potential clients. This study used quantitative and descriptive approach to describe the perception and the behavior of the sample population. As to the type of research instrument used, the researchers applied a survey-type questionnaire into the study in eliciting data from the respondents. The survey was composed of three parts which is a mixed of a multiple choice-type and a Likert scale-type of questions. In choosing the respondents, stratified sampling technique was utilized by the researchers in which they stratify the population by sex to ensure representation of male and female students in Enverga. based on the results of the study, the researchers found out that 83 respondents were financially involved, where most of them are bank account owners. representation of male and female students in Enverga. The researchers concluded that majority of the respondents believe that limited money affects account ownership. The study revealed that here is a significant difference on the factors contributing to the financial inclusiveness on the personal aspect and domestic aspect of students between male and female. Using the findings and conclusions as a basis, the researchers provided some recommendations for the students, HEIs, and financial institutions.
