Level of Psychological Engagement and Satisfaction of College Students to Online Distance Learning
Abstract
This study determined the level of psychological engagement and satisfaction of the college
students to online distance learning. Specifically, this address first the demographic profile
according to their gender, year level, and college program. Second is determined the level of
student engagement in terms of cognitive aspect, emotional aspect, and social aspect. Third is
examined the level of student satisfaction in terms of cognitive aspect, emotional aspect, and
social aspect. Fourth is investigated the significant differences in the level of engagement and the
level of satisfaction of students according to their demographic characteristics. This research
study is a quantitative approach and used the descriptive non-experimental which is the survey research design. The instrument of this study used the validated self-devised questionnaire for an online survey to determine the level of psychological engagement and satisfaction on online distance learning. The questionnaire has 30 items written in English. This study also used online platforms like Google forms for the online survey. The participants are the college students of College of Arts and Sciences (CAS)department at Manuel S. Enverga University in Lucena City. The result of the study is used to design the Workshop on Self-Reliance in Relation to Academic Pursue. Based on the results, the study revealed that majority of college students from the Department of College of Arts and Sciences are highly engaged and satisfied when it comes to cognitive and social respect. In terms of emotional aspect, most college students from the Department of College of Arts and Sciences are highly engaged and satisfied when it comes to cognitive and social aspect. In terms of emotional aspect, most college students are low emotionally engaged and satisfied to online distance learning. The study also revealed that there is no significant difference in the level of engagement of college students according to their gender, year level, and college program. The study also revealed that there is no significant difference in the level of satisfaction of college students according to their gender and year level, but there is a significant difference in the level of satisfaction of college students according to their college program.
