Correlation of Self-Esteem and Anxiety among Young Adult Women using Instagram

Abstract

Nowadays, Instagram has become one of the most used social media around the world. Instagram is a photo sharing application that allows people to see every picture you uploaded in the said platform. In this study we will be able to know if self-esteem and anxiety has a correlation in using Instagram. The study aims to determine the demographic profile which is age, young adult women and their course. To explore the self-esteem level of the women respondents using instagram through the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, to examine the anxiety level of the women respondents using instagram through the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Lastly, to investigate the significant relationship betweek self-esteem and anxiety among women respondents. The study will use quantitative research in a correlational research design wherein it is used to test strength of association betweek variables. To assess the levels of anxiety of the participants they will be answering a standardized statistical tool of State-Trait anxiety Inventory (Spielberger, Gorsych, Lushene, Vagg & Jacobs, 1983) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (1965). The Participants were drawn from stratified random sampling of the population of College of Arts nad Sciences Instagram users. All participants must be full time female college students ageed between 18-25. The result of the study will be used to know if there is a correlation between Self-Esteem and anxiety among Young Women using Instagram. Also, if posting pictures often and hours spent on Instagram has a correlation on the self-esteem and anxiety of a young woman using Instagram. Lastly, the efficient use of Instagram and improved levels of self-esteem and low anxiety level.
