ASSESSMENT OF AWARENESS, ATTITUDES, AND PRACTICES ON INDOOR AIR POLLUTION AMONG RESIDENTS OF PAGBILAO, QUEZON

This study sought to assess the awareness, attitudes, and practices regarding indoor air pollution among the residents of Pagbilao. Specifically, their awareness of primary sources of indoor air pollution in their homes, their level of awareness of the health effects of indoor air pollution, their attitudes, and common practices in their life that either improve or decrease the indoor air quality in their homes. Additionally, the researcher sought to determine the significant relationship between the following (1) the awareness of respondents on the sources of indoor air pollution and their practices; and (2) the awareness of respondents of the sources of indoor air pollution and their attitudes. A descriptive research design was used with a quantitative approach using a survey questionnaire to gather the data. One hundred eighty respondents participated in this study out of two hundred from five (5) randomly selected barangays in Pagbilao, Quezon, namely: Brgy. Bukal, Brgy. Castillo, Brgy. Mapagong, Brgy. Tambak, and Brgy. Parang via an online survey through answering Google Forms. Frequency, percentage,weighted mean, and jamovi statistical software were used as statistical treatments. The study revealed that most of the residents are aware of the sources of indoor air pollution, the respondents are moderately aware. Most of the residents also agree with the following statements regarding their attitudes on indoor air pollution; they extremely agree that daily cleaning is necessary to improve indoor air quality. The residents sometimes do the common practices that either improve or decrease the air quality inside their homes. In identifying the significant relationships, there is quaite an amount of significant relationship betweek the awareness of sources regarding indoor air pollution and the practices of Pagbilao, Quezon, Moreover, significant relationships in the variables between the awareness of sources of indoor air pollution and their attitudes are also present.
