CHALLENGES OF THE BARANGAY HEAKTH EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (BHERT) IN BRGY. MASALUKOT I AS PERCEIVED BY THE LOCAL HEALTH WORKERS

Abstract
THe Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams, or BHERTs, are tasked by the government regarding the COVID healthcare needs such as partnering with Local Epidemiology and Surveillance Units and Contact Tracing Teams in tracking confirmed COVID-19 patients. The researcher is interested to uncover the challenges of their local services as they continuously grapple the pandemic. This study utilized a qualitative approach particularly the descriptive case study to selected participants in Barangay Masalukot I in unfolding the different challenges of the BHERTs. it is a challenge for BHERT workers to divide the time for their family and job, finding ways to battle the pandemic, risk of Covid-19 while being subject to mistreatment from violators, and spreading the virus to their family, being safe when dealing with various people everyday and the idea of being sick and catching the virus as well as the feeling of being afraid, worried, and stressed when working during this pandemic. However, These Bhert members cope or manage with the dynamic change of work in regard to the pandemic we have today by accepting and enduring everything because it os part of their job as a frontliner, strengthening their health and body to cfombat Covid-19, praying, and time management.
