IMPACT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC TO THE VIEWING HABITS OF SELECTED MSEUF STUDENTS ON FILIPINO MOVIES

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the impact of the COVID -19 pandemic to the viewing habits on Filipino movies among MSEUF college and senior high school students. The descriptive quantitative research was employed to the study. The respondents were 100 purposively selected students who watch Filipino movies. Questionnaires were used as instrument in gathering the data. Data were statistically analyzed through weighted mean, frequency and percentage. Results revealed that the Covid-19 pandemic expressed a negative impact on the respondent’s reasons for watching Filipino Movies. It depicts that from appreciating the cinematography, it was changed into relieving boredom from doing routine task. Not only the pandemic has changed the reasons for watching Filipino films, but also shows the significant dropped down of values that the respondent’s gave. This study also shows the changes of their viewing habits on Filipino movies which reflects their level of patronage and exposure to Filipino Films. With an obtained average of weighted mean of 2.58, it falls down with the value interpreted as Disagree, wherein it signifies that there is indeed a negative impact towards Philippine Film industry. With all of this, there is now a clear picture of what is now the current status of the Filipino film industry in the eyes of the chosen respondents, which reflects the general public's thoughts and opinions.
