RECEPTION ANALYSIS ON THE USAGE AND ROLE OF POLITICAL MEMES IN SHAPING PUBLIC OPINIONS AS PERCEIVED BY MILLENNIALS
Area of Research
Abstract
The study aims to conduct a reception analysis on the usage and role of political
memes in shaping public opinions as perceived by millennials. It specifically seeks to
identify the level of exposure of the respondents to political memes posted on
Facebook; their perceptions on political memes in terms of appeal, language used,
content and objective; and the impact of political memes in shaping their opinions
toward a political issue. There will be 100 millennial respondents (25-40 years old) who
will be chosen randomly. The self-made questionnaire will be written in a Google Forms
because the data gathering will be done virtually. The expected output of the research is
to come up with localized netiquettes or guidelines for a responsible social media user.
