WATER ANALYSIS OF BANTAKAY FALLS WATER RESERVOIR: IMPACT TO PUBLIC HEALTH

Abstract

This study analyzed the water quality of Bantakay Falls water reservoir in Brgy. Sta. Catalina Atimonan, Quezon. Moreover, the researcher distinguished the impact of the reservoirs to the public health. It specifically seeks to the perception and problem encountered by the respondents regarding the physical appearance, water quantity, and sanitation of the water supply. Furthermore, the researcher tests the water supply during dry season and wet season. This test includes coliform analysis, microbial analysis, and water potability. Using mixed-method design the researcher conducted a personal interview to twenty (20) participant using self-made structured interview questionnaire for the qualitative part of this study. Purposive sampling design will be utilized in this study and thematic analysis will be use for the data interpretation. Based on the result of the laboratory test, the water sample from the reservoir failed with the qualification given by the Philippine Standard for Drinking Water. Moreover, the study revealed that majority of the participants experienced poor quality and quantity of water supply. Thus, the researcher recommends for the Local Government Unit to establish a more reliable filtration system and water pipe.
