Online Kumustahan: Perceived Social Support on Mental Well-being of MSEUF Faculty

Abstract

Building positive interpersonal relationships with other people allows humans to design a network of close, tender people who can offer social support during stress. Many people suffered during the pandemic and their social support is not stable and the only channel to show support is through online. Due to the distance the pandemic brought to people, the researcher investigated the online kumustahan as perceived social support on mental wellbeing of MSEUF Faculty. This paper examined the experiences of college professors in perceiving social support and the challenges they encountered in perceiving it from others. Lastly, the researcher investigated the impact of online kumustahan on their mental wellbeing. This study utilized the quantitative-descriptive approach of research. With an estimated total of 284 professors, a sample of over 100 is included in the study. The results revealed that online kumustahan has an impact on the respondents during the pandemic. The researcher recommends developing a retreat program or other psychosocial program that enhances social relationship and will provide a good support system and better wellbeing.
