PSYCHO-SOCIAL NEEDS OF WOMEN IN THE AETA COMMUNITY OF TAYABAS: BASIS FOR A PROPOSED PSYCHO-SOCIAL INTERVENTION PROGRAM

Abstract

The study focused on the psycho-social needs of women in the Aeta Community of Tayabas. The study employed ethnographic study wherein the it involved the collection and analysis of data about cultural groups and making sense of the world to identify lifeways. This employed the interview schedule as the main data gathering tool. Focused Group Discussion is utilized to Nine (9) Key Informants who were women in the Aeta Community. Audio recording and transcription were used to transcribe the data and be able to find themes of data gathered. The study concluded that on Emotional Dimension, it appeared that their emotional support came from their Mother and Spouse. When it comes to Social Dimension, it indicated that their social support came from invitation from the community and friends. Along with Spiritual Dimension, it elicited that their spiritual support emanates from prayers and masses. Also, in terms of Emotional Dimension, it appeared that the key informants listen to parents’ advice. On Social Dimension, they practice minding their own business in life. And, when it comes to Spiritual Dimension, they always do it through the powers of prayers. And, to cope up with the problems encountered, in terms of Emotional Dimension, the key informants indicated that they seek help from the Barangay and the Community and through amusements. When it comes to Social Dimension, the key informants showed that they seek help from their Spouse and Mother. On Spiritual Dimension, they feel at ease and relieved once they prayed for their problems.
