FAMILY AND SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS READING LITERACY PROGRAM FOR NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE 3RD DISTRICT OF QUEZON

Abstract
This study aimed to develop the family and school partnerships reading literacy
program for national high school students in the 3rd district of Quezon. The study
determined the profile of the stakeholders, reading literacy level and the strategies they
used in strengthening the reading proficiency of the students. The study used
exploratory sequential mixed method research design. Parents and teachers of the
National High School in the 3rd District of Quezon participated in this study. Results show
that the majority of the school-based respondents are aged 29 years. All of the schoolbased respondents were at least college degree holders and have been in the teaching
profession for less than 4 years. With regard to the family-based respondents, a great
majority of them are female. Many of these household-based respondents are 35 years
and stay-at-home parents. Moreover, both the school-based and family-based
respondents have varied strategies in promoting reading literacy among the learners and
their children. This study recommends the utilization and validation of the reading literacy
program.
