CONTEXTUALIZED LANGUAGE MODULE: TOOL FOR THE STUDENTS’ ENGLISH PROFICIENCY AND FLUENCY TOWARDS ENGLISH LANGUAGE OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN PATNANUNGAN DISTRICT

Abstract

The purposed of this study is to determine the extent of contextualized English language module practice with respect to discovery approach and collaborative approach; determine the level of importance of contextualized language module as perceived by the SHS teachers on enhancing the learning skills and performance of the SHS students and lastly; to determine if there is a significant difference in the perceived extent of CEL Module when respondents are grouped according to profile. The study used descriptive research design and quantitative in view. The researcher gathered data through survey questionnaire from both senior school teacher and students in the Patnanungan district. The results revealed that there are no significant differences on the extent of practices of contextualized language module with respect to discovery and collaborative approaches when respondents are grouped by profile, as all the p- values computed are greater than the 0.05 level of significance. The study reveal that the level of practice of contextualized language module when it comes to collaborative and discovery approach was much practiced in Patnanungan district. The study determined the level of importance of contextualized language module in enhancing the skills and performance of senior high school students as perceived by respondents as much evident. The findings implied that the perceptions of respondents on the extent practice of CLM is not influence by either sex or type of respondent. Contextualized teaching and learning was recommended in helping learners improve their performance in English to acquire fluency and proficiency.
