RELATED LEARNING EXPERIENCE AND ITS EFFECT IN NURSING STUDENTS’ CLINICAL PERFORMANCES

Abstract

Related learning experience is defined as any interaction, course, or other experience wherein learning occurs whether it is in traditional or non-traditional academic settings. It is also can be done inside the classroom or school and outside of the school. This study focused on the effects of related learning experiences on the clinical performance of nursing students. The 2nd year to 4th year nursing students who were enrolled at Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation in the academic year 2022–2023 were the respondents of this study. Researchers used a quantitative approach using the survey descriptive method. All of the data and information used in this study were gathered through a survey questionnaire with the chosen respondents. Results show that related learning experience performance is much better executed in a face-to-face class rather than in an online platform. Also, it provides good interpersonal skills and enhances the confidence to perform procedures in the clinical area. Moreover, related learning experience has an impact on students through building good working relationships with others which got the highest mean. Therefore, the researchers conclude that related learning experience has an impact on nursing student's clinical performance specifically in terms of knowledge, motivation, and clinical setting.
