Abstract

The study is entitled, “The Implementation of Oplan Sita in Lucena City” which focuses on the current extent of the implementation of Oplan Sita and its effectiveness in preventing crimes in Lucena City. In addition, it aims to unfold the organizational and operational problems of PNP Lucena. The researchers opted for a descriptive design which allows for a quantitative approach as the statistical treatment of analyzing data. To gain the needed information for the study, a validated survey questionnaire was submitted to the Operations Department of Lucena City Police Station. The sample size of sixty-one (61) police officers was randomly chosen to answer the given questionnaires to show how they perceive the implementation of Oplan Sita in Lucena City. Subsequently, responses were analyzed and interpreted using the formula for Weighted Arithmetic Mean. The data gathered revealed that there is a high level of implementation of Oplan Sita in Lucena City, especially in impounding motorcycles without necessary documents. It was also proven that Oplan Sita is very effective as a crime prevention strategy. Moreover, the results showed that the Lucena City Police are experiencing problems in training and development and insufficiency in body-worn cameras. Hence, it is recommended that an evenhanded manner of inspection of all types of vehicles should be practiced. The department may also improve the publication of their success and achievements. Lastly, there should be a reevaluation of the current programs offered for the training of personnel and a sufficient budget shall be allocated for operational accessories.
