A PROPOSED SEAFOOD RESTAURANT: REDEFINING THE RESTAURANT USING A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH IN LUCENA CITY, QUEZON
Area of Research
Abstract
The world was once a breathtakingly beautiful landscape, but technological
advancements in infrastructure and buildings have slowly eroded its beauty. However,
incorporating sustainability into architecture can save and restore the world's natural glory.
Sustainable architecture is a broad term for buildings that reduce humanity's
environmental impact. An eco-friendly approach to modern building includes all aspects of
the planning and construction process, such as selecting building materials, designing and
implementing heating, cooling, plumbing, waste, and ventilation systems, and integrating
the built environment into the natural landscape. (Hohenadel, 22) The greatest way to
enable people to enjoy the beauty of nature and the sea surrounding them is to include
such building materials in a restaurant that specializes in seafood cuisine and dishes and
uses a qualitative method in which it shall use observations.
Moreover, it can have a low environmental impact as a core design principle.
Therefore, bricks, cross-laminated timber, and Low – E double glass wall, (ALSECCO,
2019) will be introduced and used as eco-friendly materials, while a rainwater harvesting
system should be utilized in the overall plans of the structure. These four eco-friendly
materials will be critical components in the building's construction and finish product.
Aside from that, the proper execution of planning and the restaurant's overall ambiance
will be paramount in this project, where people can relax and admire nature's beauty while
enjoying the restaurant's delicious cuisine.
