STUDENTS' FEEDBACK ON FIRST-YEAR MARINE TRANSPORTATION PROFESSIONAL COURSES

Abstract
The primary objective of this study is to collect feedback regarding the professional
courses of First-year BS in Marine Transportation students through the use of surveys to gain a
thorough understanding of the student's abilities and the areas that need to be strengthened in
their professional courses. This study sought to ascertain the perceptions of first-year Bachelor of
Science in Marine Transportation students regarding the relevance of professional courses taken,
their organization, teaching strategy, and assessment methods, as well as the learning
environment and counseling involved during these professional courses. Given that the primary objective of the study is to determine how 1st-year maritime students in Manuel S. Enverga
University Foundation at a higher education institution in Lucena, City feel about the services
provided by the College of Maritime Education in Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation in
relation to the professional courses they are enrolled in, a questionnaire was used to collect the
necessary information. On the basis of the study's problem statement, a research questionnaire
was designed to collect the information necessary to determine how the diet of marine students
in their first year at Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation corresponds to the professional
courses they are enrolled in. The researchers created the queries with the aid of pertinent
literature. To determine the feedback of First year Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation
students to their professional courses in terms of Relevance of Professional courses, Course
Organization, Intended Learning Outcomes, and Outcome Based Education, Teaching Strategy,
Assessment of Methods, and Learning Environment and Counselling. This survey revealed the
opinions of first-year Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation students regarding the
professional courses given in SY 2022-2023. The degree-related courses contribute more to job
advancement. This served as a guide for the continual improvement of the quality of education
given and of the school as a whole. Conducting a feedback survey to determine students'
thoughts on their instructors' methods is an important activity to carry out because it can help to
improve the teaching-learning process for each professional course. Furthermore, these are the
courses that improved students' performance, broaden their understanding of their chosen field,
and provide them with more advanced skills that is highly beneficial once they graduate. The professional courses and evaluations for each course include all of the major areas that a firstyear Maritime student should be familiar with. The instructors' teaching strategies are effective
because students can gain information, deepen their knowledge of their chosen program, and
increase their skills and level of understanding, while also having great experiences and
appreciating the extracurricular activities that are offered at the institution. The methods that are
done by the instructors to assess what the students have learned need improvement and should be
addressed. It may result in it being effective for the majority of the students, but the other
students who have different opinions on it should also be considered so that the department can
ensure that all students of the Department of College of Maritime Education (CME) are satisfied
and can assess themselves their knowledge through the methods.
