EFFECTIVENESS OF CCTV CAMERAS IN INCREASING SENSE OF SECURITY AT BRGY. IBABANG DUPAY, LUCENA CITY
Abstract
This study examined the effectiveness of Close-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras
in enhancing the security of residents in Barangay Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City. As the
population grows, crime and incidents have become a growing concern. Employing a
quantitative descriptive research design, the researchers conducted a survey using
questionnaires administered to 25 establishment owners and 50 residents who own
CCTV systems in Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City. The survey utilized a four-point Likert
scale to interpret the gathered data, with ratings ranging from 1.00 to 4.00: 3.50 – 4.00
(Highly Effective), 2.50 – 3.49 (Effective), 1.50 – 2.49 (Less Effective), and 1.00 – 1.49
(Not Effective). This research aimed to provide valuable insights into the effectiveness
of CCTV in enhancing the sense of security. The study's findings will be used to
propose a Community-Based Seminar that integrates proper orientation about the
effectiveness and functional aspects of CCTV systems to increase security and safety
measures
