PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED BY BARANGAY POLICE OFFICERS IN MANAGING PEACE AND ORDER DURING THE TIME OF PANDEMIC IN TAYABAS CITY

Abstract

The study primarily aimed to determine the problems being encountered by Barangay Police Security Officers in managing peace and order during the time of the pandemic. The study established the problems encountered by the barangay police security officer in managing peace and order during the pandemic. The study made use of a descriptive evaluative design to examine the data gathered in the study. The data was gathered from selected Barangay Police Security Officers in selected barangays of Tayabas, Quezon Province. Moreover, sets of survey questionnaires were used as instruments to obtain information from the respondents. Frequency and Percentage were used to analyze the factors in the demographic profile of the respondents, while Weighted Arithmetic Mean and Standard Deviation were utilized to examine the problems being encountered by the respondents. It was found out that the barangay police officers are important sectors in managing peace and order. They are key in preventing and minimizing criminal activities at the barangay level. The result of their demographic profile shows that the majority have extended experience in peacekeeping. It is concluded that numerous activities and circumstances can greatly affect the operation, planning, and organization of peace programs. Hence, the community should establish policies about peacekeeping. Barangay police officers need to address the problems of the community. It is recommended to propose and organize mandatory training and seminars among barangay police officers. The purpose of having training is to strengthen the overall skills and capacities of security officers.
