SIGNIFICANCE OF MEDIA PORTRAYAL TO POLICE PERSONNEL
Area of Research
Abstract
In their roles in society, the police and the media are mutually dependent; the police
need the media to expose the issues of policing and the crimes they deal with, and the media
needs the police to provide them with stories. Many cops believe that their media image has a
substantial impact on public perception, although this is difficult to prove. The study's goal was
to improve police officer performance and determine how the general public perceives law
enforcement professionals. This study was carried out using quantitative approaches by the
researchers. The researchers attempted to address the aforementioned concerns while also
justifying and satisfying the study's objectives. The researchers employed a self-structured
questionnaire to aid them in acquiring data in response to the study's information sources.
Based on the objectives, the questionnaire comprised study-related questions. To aid in the
current investigation, participants were asked to complete a self-created questionnaire provided
by the researchers. The questionnaire has a statement and a Likert scale for responding it. The
findings demonstrated that the public was interested in how officers demonstrate, convince, and
urge the public to enhance the police-community relationship through good deeds.
