THE ROLE OF BARANGAY POLICE IN REDUCING CRIME RATE INVOLVING YOUTH: BASIS FOR AN INTERVENTION PROGRAM

Abstract
This study aimed to determine the role of barangay officers in reducing crime rate.
Primarily, this study determined the demographic profile of the respondents as to age, sex, civil
status, and years of residency. It also identified the different crime prevention activities that
include the youth, the role of barangay police in reducing the crime rate as well as their
perceived difficulties. This study employed descriptive quantitative research method. The
respondent of this study were fifty (50) barangay police in Mayao Crossing who were chosen
using purposive sampling. The chosen barangay served as the primary research locale. The
main research instrument of this study used a three-part self-made questionnaire. The statistical
plan utilized percentage distribution and weighted mean.
