LEVEL OF EFFECTIVENESS OF CURFEW IN REDUCING CRIME IN BARANGAY DALAHICAN, LUCENA CITY

People are longing for a life in which they can live safe and sound. Curfew played a significant role in a certain community where it is being imposed. This regulation required people and business establishments to remain indoors and stayed close to a specified time, respectively. In this way, a curfew could reduce the number of crimes in the community. Just like any other law, it has equivalent penalties and sanctions once you violate it. In this study, the researchers were able to determine the level of effectiveness of curfew in reducing crime and to identify the result by implementing a curfew in Brgy. Dalahican, Lucena City. The researchers utilized the descriptive survey method by using a questionnaire as a research instrument. The unstructured questionnaire and the Likert Scale were used as the basis for the respondent’s responses. The respondents were one hundred twelve (55), composed of 50 randomly selected members of the community and 5 purposely selected barangay curfew officials (Barangay Police). Data was treated statistically and were analyzed using frequency distribution, and weighted mean distribution. The result of this study will improve the implementation of the curfew in Brgy. Dalahican, Lucena City. This research aimed to maintain peace and order in Brgy. Dalahican by up skilled curfew officials and by encouraging community members to wholeheartedly follow curfew protocol.
