Hypoglycemic Effect of Blue Ternate (Clitoria ternatea) on Selected Type II Diabetic Patients

Completed2022

Abstract

Diabetes is one of the most frequent chronic diseases globally, causing major health problems in the twenty-first century, and since the pandemic’s outbreak, many people have died as a result of coronavirus complications. Blue ternate, also known as Clitoria ternatea, contains flavonoids, which act as antioxidants and help to prevent the gradual degradation of pancreatic beta-cell activity as well as anthocyanins, which improve and increase insulin resistance. Blue ternate (Clitoria ternatea) was utilized as an alternative dietary supplement in this study that investigates the hypoglycemic impact in people with type two diabetes. The portable device glucometer was used to measure the fasting blood sugar of the participants which determines the effectiveness of the Blue ternate (Clitoria ternatea). In conclusion, the study shows no significant difference in FBS levels before and after taking blue ternate tea of selected twenty (20) type two diabetic patients at Lucena City. The researchers concluded that the two-week experimental study of blue ternate tea in control (with maintenance) and experimental (without maintenance) groups is not enough to determine its hypoglycemic benefits.
