VACCINATION HESITANCY AMONG SENIOR CITIZENS AGAINST COVID-19

Completed2022

Abstract

The outbreak of covid 19 disease has been a major threat to public health worldwide. With this threat, the development of vaccines had been made just to protect the life of every population, however, several reported cases of vaccine hesitancy have been noted and have been forced out to be one of the major threats to public health. To extract the results, this study used descriptive quantitative approaches such as descriptive-evaluative and descriptivecomparative methods. As deferred by the World Health Organization (WHO) vaccine hesitancy is the delay in the acceptance or refusal of vaccination despite the availability of vaccination services. Results show that this vaccine hesitancy has been prevented across regions and ages worldwide including the Philippine population specifically the senior citizens. In terms of educational attainment, there is no substantial difference in determining their hesitancy to receive the covid-19 vaccination. The higher the respondent's educational attainment, the less he/she is concerned with internal factors. Moreover, educational achievement appears to be associated with respondents' reluctance. However, in terms of external factors, educational achievement does not appear to be associated with respondents' hesitation. The researchers advocate using the study's findings to increase older persons' comprehension of the value of the covid-19 vaccination.
