Tourism Health and Safety Protocols in Selected Tourist Destinations in Quezon Province: A Sustainable Approach

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the health and safety protocols of the selected tourist destinations in Quezon Province in a sustainable approach. Driven by the effect of the pandemic on the sustainability of tourist destinations, researchers investigate their level of practice in practicing the health and safety protocols, challenges encountered, sustainable practices that are well-maintained, and the relationship between the practices and challenges using a sample of 133 respondents. This study used a descriptive research design and a quantitative approach. Purposive sampling is used to select the respondents namely, stakeholders, Local Government Unit (LGU), local tourists, employees of the selected tourist destinations, and tourists outside Quezon Province. The data was collected through Google Form and analyzed by using statistical treatments such as frequency and percentage, standard deviation, weighted mean, and Spearman Rho Rank Technique. The results of the study indicate that tourist destinations are following the health and safety protocols which is the utmost priority of tourist establishments is the assured protection of visitors, customers, and employees. Moreover, this identified existent challenges experienced by the tourist destinations in observing the health and safety protocols in terms of social, economic, and environmental. Due to the pandemic, the viability of tourist places is affected. However, in today’s new normal, ensuring the protection of every individual is vital.
