Lucena City as a Driver of Culinary Tourism in Quezon, Province Philippines

Abstract
This study determined the potential of Lucena City as a culinary tourism in
Quezon Province in terms of Specialty Food and the researchers used qualitative
methods to gather data. This study would provide benefits to the culinary tourism
industry of Lucenahins and would also contribute to better understanding why
Lucena City must be an attraction for tourists to visit the place. The researchers
chose 15 owners or chef/cook of Lucena City as participants of the study. The
researchers gathered data through an interview. This study is qualitative research
where the researchers gathered a data using face to face interview and this study
used purposive sampling which means the researchers purposively picked the
participants in gathering data. Based on the findings of this study, the different dishes
in Lucena City are chami, chicken delino, pritong tinapa, miki bihon, hardinera, and
rilyenong bangus. With those variety of dishes in Lucena City, the most special and most popular dish is the Chami. The foods in Lucena City are delicious, palatable,
and authentic that made it a distinct cuisine in other places cuisine. The contribution
of Lucena City specialty foods as a driver of culinary tourism in Quezon Province
includes the Chami Festival. Chami is one of the popular food or dishes in Lucena
City. The researchers provided a valid information in terms of specialty foods in
Lucena City to promote and to improve the tourism industry of Lucenahins, also to
develop infographics.
