A Proposed Design of Pratt Truss Railway Bridge at Mayao Parada, Lucena City
Area of Research
Abstract
The idea of proposing a design of Pratt Truss Railway Bridge answers the problem of the
cross-river multi-modal transportation of goods and people and aims to protect the safety of the
residence nor the commuters. The main objective of this approach is to avoid accidents and to
give them a conventional transportation to the nearest schools, market place, church, barangay
hall and as the nearest and inexpensive way of transporting their weight goods.
The study concentrates on the design of the proposed design of pratt truss railway bridge
based on design codes, standards and specification required in the structure components with all
possible combination of the proposed structural design computation of the proposed structure
using Ultimate Strength Design, National Structural Code of the Philippines Vol. II, Bridge , and
existing laws and regulations of Philippine National Railway.
Using simple costing method in estimating the quantity of materials and computing all
the necessary materials and equipment used based on the current price and rate of laborer and
considering the activities to be done, the researchers arrive to the probable cost of the pratt truss
bridge of 11,051,698.32 pesos. The researchers recommended the implementation of the
construction of the proposed design of Pratt truss Railway Bridge and for the location to be taken
into consideration.
