AWARENESS OF THE SEAFARERS IN THE USE OF SURVIVAL CRAFT AND RESCUE BOAT

Abstract
This study aimed to determine the awareness of the seafarers in the use of
survival craft and rescue boat. The gathering of data was conducted in Batangas
Port, Batangas City, Batangas throughdescriptive research. A total of 100 seafarer
respondents who have undergone Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats
(PSCRB) training and Basic Training answered the survey questionnaire.
Results revealed that respondents are aware of effective use of the survival
craft and rescue boat. The handling of the survival craft and rescue boat must
include enough knowledge and skills to operate this man-operated machinery
boats and crafts that is why trainings and drills are conducted for seafarers before
using the lifesaving equipment. Training is essential for seafarers since it is not
only for compliance under the regulations, but also for protection of the seafarers’
lives in times of adverse situations.
