Character Development of Maritime Students Amidst Pandemic in the Learning of Maritime English

Abstract
In these trying times of the pandemic, difficulties in teaching and learning maritime English arise for maritime students and instructors. Various types of research on the development of character education have been carried out and analyzed the integration of character education in Maritime English learning but few have conducted research about this study amidst the pandemic. The purpose of this study is to determine the character of Maritime Students as seen from the efficiency of learning methods that have been integrated with character values. The research design is a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods. The interview guide and survey were employed in this study. Results reveal that even in this trying time of the pandemic, Maritimes students can excel in learning Maritime English. They perform and continuously improve their character while participating in the online class session. The learning of Maritime English and improvement of their character towards the lesson can be accomplished with the help of Maritime instructors; they used the right learning method to properly disseminate the lesson in online classes. This study shows that Maritime student has a positive response to the learning methods used by teachers.
