THE IMPACT OF RAPID GROWTH OF TECHNOLOGY TO THE MARITIME INDUSTRY: ITS IMPLICATION TO THE SEAFARERS

The main goal of the study is to know the impact of the rapid growth of technology on the maritime industry and its implications to seafarers. The researchers want to know the ways how to minimize the negative impact of the advancement of technology on seafarers, students who are taking BSMT courses, and to those who are in the Maritime industries. The researchers conducted online data gathering by you saying questionnaires and gathering information through online surveys. The researchers aimed to have 30 respondents within Quezon province, seafarers that experienced the development of technology onboard. The growth of technology thus affects seafarers in some respects, the researchers strive to study this issue to know the implication and the positive effects with its counterpart, the negative effects of the rapid growth of technology on seafarers. For the past years, the maritime industry has improved and still improving, improving ship structures and reliability of ship equipment and navigational instruments to reduce the casualties and several accidents at sea and also to increase efficiency and productivity. Those improvements like improving ships' design, navigational equipment, stability, and propulsion system are witnessed by every seafarer in the industry. Maritime industries would be pointless without the presence of seafarers. The prospect of this research is to imply to seafarers the extent of the aid of technology and to publish information that will give knowledge and ideas about minimizing the negative results of the advancement of technology to seafarers, students who are taking Maritime courses, and those who are related in Maritime industries. This research interprets the results of the data gathering, the implementation of proper training, and taking p courses that give additional experience to those who are willing to harness proper knowledge.
