ANALYZING THE USE OF STRATEGIC INTERVENTION MATERIAL FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF LEAST LEARNED SKILL IN GRADE 9 FILIPINO IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS OF PATNANUNGAN DISTRICT

Completed2022

Abstract

The main thrust of this study is to analyze the significance of development of strategic intervention material for improvement of least learned skills in Grade 9 Filipino in secondary schools of Patnanungan district. Strategic Intervention Materials (SIM) in Filipino, which were given to learners, is to help develop their least mastered skills. They discovered that the mean percentage scores are very poor prompting the explanation behind the researcher to use the Strategic Intervention Materials. Focusing on the interactive strategic intervention materials, the researcher used two hundred eighty- five (285) Grade 9 learners from secondary schools in Patnanungan District and seven (7) Filipino secondary teachers. Strategic Intervention Material is used in classes remediation to give focus on developing the least mastered skills of the learners as identified in the mean percentage scores for school year 2020-2021. The chosen learners took the pretest and posttest. Consequently, complete enumeration was used by the author in utilizing the study. In line with this, the researcher also used t-test in utilizing the study. The mean score obtained by the students in their post-test is greater than the mean score obtained by the same in their pre-test, thus the SIM was effective. The t-test revealed that there are no significant differences on the perceived effectiveness of strategic intervention materials in terms of content and quality when teacher respondents are grouped by profile; in as much as the computed p-values are all greater than the 0.05 level of significance.
