A Proposed Design of an Environment Friendly Seven- Storey Parking Building in Lucena City

Completed2016

Abstract

This study was guided by the objectives as follows: (a) to design an environment friendly seven-storeyparking building in Lucena City (b) to develop technical drawings and plans for the designed an environment friendly seven-storey parking building (c) to prepare the technical specifications, bill of materials, cost estimates and program of works for the designed environment friendly seven-storey parking building and (d) To evaluate the designed environment friendly seven-storey parking building in term of LEED Rating System. The procedures followed by the researchers are as follows: (1.) Gathering data about the location the land area and the land title; (2.) Formulating design parameters for safety, environmental, economic and aesthetic aspects. (3.) Soil Analysis for finding the allowable soil pressure and soil properties needed in the design computations; (4.) Design procedures presented on UNIT IV of the manuscript including the computations of its structural members. The research and development method is used in the study “A Proposed Design of an Environment Friendly Seven-Storey Parking Building in Lucena City”. It complies with the basic technical requirements of the structural design of reinforced concrete structures. The researchers includes disciplines and processes in designing a structure which is based on Environment Friendly Parking Bldg. 15 various codes and laws related to civil engineering such as the National Structural Code of the Philippines (2010), National Building Code, American Concrete Institute, and the existing laws and regulation of Civil Engineering office. The Ultimate Strength Design Method (USD) is also applied. The plan gives the view of the proposed environment friendly parking building and its details. It consists of the perspective, site development plan, floor plans, elevations, foundation plan and the sections of the proposed structure, electrical and plumbing plan. Using simple costing method in estimating the quantity of materials and computing all the necessary materials and equipment used based on the current price and rate of labor and considering the activities to be done, the researchers arrive to the probable cost of the environment friendly parking building structure to be P 58,185,448.60. The preparation of program of works presented using the PERT/CPM diagram and the preparation of technical specifications consulting the National Building Code of the Philippines (NBC) and local rules and regulation of the City of Lucena. Therefore, the researchers concluded that the proposed design of an Environment Friendly Parking Building in Lucena City uses necessary knowledge, concepts, theories and principles in building construction, site investigation, soil analysis as well as the cost of estimates and bill of materials and appropriate technical specifications.
