Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of the internal control system in the achievement of organizational goals of the selected Multi-Purpose Cooperatives in the 2nd District of Quezon. This study was conducted among cooperative employees and management within the 2nd District of Quezon Province. Frequency, percentage, weighted mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney U, and Kruskal-Wallis H were used in analyzing and interpreting the data. Data was collected through a self-formulated questionnaire validated by experts in the field.Results reveal that the majority of the employee-respondents were 30-39 years of age, female individuals, and under rank-and-file level. The internal control system of cooperatives showed a high extent of manifestation within their organization in observance of the five (5) variables namely; control environment, risk assessment, information and communication, and monitoring. However, there are still areas that need improvement and enhancement of the overall internal control operations of the cooperative. Based on the result of the study, it is recommended toconduct further studies on another group of respondents with different profiles and locales to determine which cooperatives need assistance in terms of their internal control system.
