Performance Measurement System of a Selected Local Cooperative in Lucena City

Abstract

The selected local cooperative is a credit cooperative that promotes thrift and saving among its members and creates funds in order to grant loans for productivity. This study is beneficial not only to the cooperative itself but also to other organizations that lacks in management control, and to future business leaders. The researchers used comparative, descriptive, and actions types of research. The focused group discussion, questionnaire, and documents provided by the cooperative were gathered to be able to compare the performance of the cooperative from 2014-2017. As a result, the researchers have successfully determined the cooperative’s current performance, have effectively produced a balance scorecard, and have provided a useful strategic plan. The current performance of the cooperative has shown: First, in terms of financial aspect, the cooperative has been performing very well. However, in terms of customer and internal business process perspective, it shows that the cooperative needs to improve a little. And then in terms of their learning and growth perspective, it shows that they lack on social activities that led into a low participation of its members. The researchers highly recommend the use of balance scorecard, for it has been proves as useful instrument in the implementation of a new strategy that aligns with the mission and vision of the cooperative. It also shown a deeper insight into the cooperative’s operations and potential areas which are needed to be look upon.
