A Case Study on the Effects of Franchised Fast-Food Outlets on Selected Local Restaurants in Lucena City

Abstract
This study was concerned on the effects of franchise fast food outlets on the selected local restaurants in Lucena City. Specially, it sought to answer the following: How does the owner describe their operation before the influx of franchise fast-food outlets?; What are the significant effects of the franchise fast-food outlets in selected local restaurants in Lucena City?; and What are the strategies to overcome the effect of franchise fast food outlets?
The researchers achieved the objectives and used a descriptive method of the research. The three (3) key informants were the local restaurant owners in Lucena City. The results were transcribed and analyzed.

In the light of the findings, the following conclusions are drawn: that the local restaurants were built in 1990s and face challenges but there were still increased on sales and loyal customers; and therefore, there was no significant effects on the local restaurants of the existence of fast food outlets in Lucena City.
Based on the findings, the following recommendations are drawn: marketing promotion must be intensified in all social media platforms; and utilize and conduct team building, trainings, and seminars.
