A PROPOSED KALARU TOY LIBRARY AND MUSEUM
Area of Research
Abstract
Toy libraries are resource centers for parents and young children which
provide developmentally appropriate materials for children and support, counseling,
instructional activities, and information for parents (Mayfield,1993). The proposed
project was developed to serve as a new educational and recreational place for
parents and young learners that will offer play sessions for families and a wide range
of toys appropriate for children at different stages in their development and travels
back people to their childhood by showcasing a wide variety of famous toys used by
children for the past centuries. Research shows that learning through play is an
important part of a child's development. Through ensuring your child has enough
playtime is a great benefit to families to allow their children to release some extra
energy, a child begins to find out who they are through play, even during infancy.
Even early in development, a child's mind is expanding just by looking at their
environment and taking in their surroundings (Educational Playcare, 2016).
Implications and trends related to toy libraries’ role in meeting family and community
needs, providing services not available through the established public programs, and
being a model for grassroots development of family?child services (Mayfield,1993).
