“A PROPOSED SANCTUARIO DE SAN PEDRO APOSTOL MEMORIAL PARK”
Area of Research
Abstract
Everyone wants a better final resting place of pilgrimage where our present and future
generations can pay respect to our loved ones’ remains. A meaningful symbol that will bond you
and your loved ones forever and providing a lasting expression of love and devotion. A place that
provides a sense of serenity for you to visit your departed loved ones peacefully and comfortably.
(Ferncliff Cemetery Association, N.D.)
Based on the 2015 Population and Housing Census, the population of the municipality of
Calauag was 73,139 from 69,179 in 2010. Due to the growing population, generally older, on
average and with only two cemeteries provided, the lack of burial space has become a problem.
A Proposed Sanctuario De San Pedro Apostol Memorial Park is one of the solutions that will
address the shortage of burial spaces in the municipality. This proposal aims to construct and
design a new memorial park that will provide the community’s demand of a new and better resting
place for their loved ones. With a vision of reconnecting people with each other and nature, and
providing an aesthetically pleasing and functional solution through landscape development and
proper site analysis. (Maccaferri, 2018) The proposed memorial park will be a mixture of
traditional (ground burial), vertical apartment-type tombs, columbarium, and private mausoleumtype units for those people who wants more privacy. The proposed Memorial Park will be nonsectarian that is open to all religious faiths.
