A PROPOSED QUEZON CENTER FOR NEUROSURGER

Completed2020

Abstract

One of the most complex organs in the human body is the brain, so much can be affected by even the tiniest flaw. Neurological disorders are the leading cause of disability and the second leading cause of death worldwide (Global Burden of Disease Study, 2016; Neurol, 2017). The population of Quezon Province is 1,856,582 excluding the City of Lucena (Census 2015; PHILATLAS; Philippine Standard Geographic Code, 2018). Governments will face increasing demand for treatment, rehabilitation, and support services for neurological disorders. Due to poor quality and limited options of health services and lack of health facilities for neurosurgery, many residents in Quezon Province tend to travel in Manila just to have a proper and quality treatment for their neurological disorders. The purpose of the proposed, Quezon Center for Neurosurgery is to provide the best medical attention, facilities, and needs of the patients with simple and easy access to all neurosurgical services. Green design solutions will be applied to reduce negative impacts on the environment and at the same time, improving the health and comfort of the building's occupants. The pattern of biophilic design will be used as an adaptive quality which has a positive impact on patients with a neurological disorder. The study focused on the design and development of a Center for Neurosurgery so patients can experience one location for all quality care and help emergency services to provide care precisely when and where it is required. This proposal will be beneficial to the people in Quezon Province in meeting their health needs, patients with neurological condition and service to the community.
