VILLAGE REDEVELOPMENT THROUGH CLIMATE RESPONSIVE APPROACH
Area of Research
Abstract
The purpose of conducting the study is to design an ideal home to the
settlers of Barangay Barra, Purok 2 that will be funded by the government.
One of the disadvantages in living near coastal areas is experiencing
stronger weather conditions than usual, whether be it dry or wet, and therefore this
phenomena is a threat. Residents living there experience occasional damage
specially the roofing, evidently an improper construction and use of materials.
Locals in that area refuse to leave their homes because they reside there for a very
long time already, and also there’s their primary source of income.
The local government already stated that it is dangerous to live there due
to their improper housing construction, a storm surge or typhoon might cause
dilemma.
Village redevelopment through climate responsive approach is one of the
ideal solution to fix the residents problem. Giving them open spaces, proper house
spacing, permanent, comfortable, adaptable and safer homes. A community that
adapts to the environment by building height combinations to control wind and sunlight along streets. The beneficiaries of the project are the residents of Brgy.
Barra offering them a safer and comfortable haven through any seasons.
