SEXUAL VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN: ITS PREVENTION

Abstract
This study sought to determine the preventive measures towards sexual violence
through the research aiming to understand the conditions of these women. This topic will
root the impact to sexually abused women, their vulnerabilities, the magnitude of violence,
adversities of the victims, the ramifications to an individual, and the prevention instituted
by the government. Specifically, the study dealt with the effects of sexual abuse among
women in terms of physiological, mental and psychological health; and coping mechanism
to overcome the sexual violence. The researchers used quantitative method for the
frequency and percentage of violence against women. The participants were fifty (50)
employees of VAWC selected using purposive sampling. Self-made questionnaire was
the main tool used to gather data. The findings of the study revealed that the mental health
is mainly affected by the sexual violence among women following physiological and
psychological health. The respondents also agreed with the given sets of coping
mechanisms. The data gathered was used in crafting out the proposed program of
activities in preventing sexual violence against women.
