Effects of Salary Increase on the Work Performance of Police Personnel in the Selected Area of the First District of Quezon

Abstract
Philippine National Police (PNP) is one of the tri-bureau under of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on which the main function is to save lives and protect properties. The PNP is mandated to respond to all national emergencies and to prevent all the casualties like a crime to maintain peace and order in the community. As crime arises around in the community, The PNP Personnel are tasked with their duty as Police officers to the prevention of crime. As President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signs Joint Resolution No. 1 Joint Resolution Authorizing the Increase in Base Pay of Military and Uniformed Personnel in the Government, and for Other Purposes. This law will improve the performance of PNP Personnel due to the increase in the base pay of PNP Personnel.
The study aimed to determine the salary increase of PNP personnel and its effects on their work performance. To answer this, the researchers conducted this study to determine the effects of salary increases on the work performance of police personnel in the selected area of the first district of Quezon by the survey that is given to the PNP Personnel.
The researchers conducted the study to Fifty (50) PNP personnel in the selected area of the first district of Quezon by using the descriptive method of research and a survey questionnaire. The data gathered was tabulated, interpreted, and presented accordingly.
Results show that majority of the police officers in Quezon Province are in the age bracket of 36-40, length of service of 1-5 years, and patrolman. The majority of the PNP personnel in the selected area of the first district of Quezon have a very satisfactory rating. The performance of the PNP officers is affected by both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation such as achievement, recognition, incentives, and salary increase. With the help of salary increases, PNP officers defrayed other needs of the family. However, some police officers in the country have absences in their duty even though there are salary increases.
It is recommended that the police officers may do their tasks according to their ranks as stated in the position description form and other related tasks assigned by the higher authorities. Chief of Police in every station may encourage the members of the team to improve their performance to at least very satisfactory by attending various training, seminars, and team-building activities. With the directives of the chief, that personnel in ranks may be motivated to do tasks promptly. And, the Office of the President, the Senate, and Congress may consider appropriating the budget for specialized training programs amongst the ranks of the PNP. The result of this study showed that the salary increase will help police personnel to improve in their work scenario.
