Role of Community in Strengthening the Community-based Correction: Basis for Establishing Support-system Program

Abstract

The assimilation of community-based correction opens various community programs that primarily aim to assist the clients in achieving a well-established life as part of their reintegration. The study is generally conducted to evaluate the roles of the community in strengthening the community-based correction. In conducting the study, a quantitative method was utilized in quantifying the results. Moreover, the researchers used the descriptive form in depicting and analysis of the possible collected data. The primary respondents were the selected community members through stratified random sampling, where five respondents from each of the thirtythree (33) Barangays of Lucena City, research setting, were chosen. Results show that the aspect of technical-vocational is the least priority role that the respondents are actively engaging. Whereas, in strengthening the community-based correction, this study determined the pertinent roles of the community as a member of society. Furthermore, its goal measured the level of awareness of the citizen relevant to community-based corrections and successfully identified the community participation in programs offered for clients under community-based corrections. Relatively, it is recommended to impose thorough attention to the community's assistance with the technical-vocational field. Also, there should be a prompt, innovative action from the agencies in dispersing knowledge about the differences between the two approaches and providing activities that the community will actively participate in with the clients. The results catered was substantially used to achieve the study's utmost purpose - support-system program in sustaining the general implication this constituted.
