Completed2021

Abstract

Music is a powerful tool of communication wherein an individual can express his/her feelings, emotions, thoughts, and actions. It has a lot of genres that contain inappropriate content that mostly influences teenagers in developing new behavior. This study aimed to determine the perceived factors of explicit music to the behavior of senior high school students. The study sought the following: demographic profile of the respondent, common explicit music played by the senior high school, and the types of behavior of senior high school students as influenced by explicit music. In this study, the researchers used a descriptive quantitative design to gather information and distributed the self-structured questionnaire to the 100 senior high school students that were chosen through random sampling technique. Furthermore, the collected data were processed and analyzed using frequency and percentage analysis to identify the significant influence of the independent variables on the dependent variables on the study. Results show that most behaviors influenced by explicit music include using explicit language and the respondents' desire to consume an alcoholic beverage while listening to explicit music. The findings also imply that listening to explicit music with a strong rhythm may energize the listener and increase the youth's willingness to try new things. Therefore, the research study recommends that parents and teachers guide and observe the students' behavior while listening to various types of explicit music. The results can be used by future researchers as an aid for identifying similar dilemmas.
