Social Media Resiliency: A Guide in Identifying Fake News
Abstract
The purpose of this research is about social media resiliency and how-to guide in identifying fake news on social media. The study focuses on giving a guide on fake news prevention on different social media platforms; the researchers used a descriptive method of research to test the influence of the guide to the prevention of fake news on social media. Using a survey questionnaire to achieve the study's goal was taken based on the purpose of the research, which is composed of four main parts. The first part is based on the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, social media platform use, and time spent on social media. The second part identifies the possible causes of fake news on social media. The third part is determining how to become resilient in social media posting. Lastly, the fourth part is to identify the effectiveness of being social media resilient in identifying fake news. To gather data and information in the assessment of giving guide for fake news prevention from the selected respondents, the researchers conducted the survey questionnaire on three social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram). The researchers believed that the conduct of this study would result in the following impact on the social media users to become aware and resilient on social media and improve their knowledge about fake news.
