Effects of Anger in Decision Making among Police Officers

Abstract

This study assessed the effects of anger in decision-making among police officers. To facilitate the study, the researcher used a descriptive method of research with a four (4) - part survey questionnaire. The researcher was able to determine the effects of the anger of police officers in their decision-making. They also identified the common reason for anger among police officers. Selected PNP personnel of Lucena City Police station were the respondents of the study. The researcher utilized a simple random sampling technique in selecting the respondents, and it was conducted in the premises of the Lucena city police station. Results reveal that the most common reason for anger among police officers is feeling as if your opinion or efforts aren't appreciated. This was followed by a problem caused by another person same in a bad event. Next is the stress followed by alcoholism. The less common reason for anger among police officers is losing patience. The majority of respondents agree that anger is an important factor in decision-making among police officers. While the police officer being physically violent when angry is strongly disagreed with by the respondents. Officers can show that they are not physically violent when angry by agreeing to 6 questions in questionnaires. The most common reason for the anger of police officers is feeling as if your opinion or efforts aren't appreciated do not expect in your part that all people can appreciate your opinion or efforts just do the right things and handle your anger. As a result of determining the effect of anger in decision-making, they need to provide anger management programs to the police officers. The organization provides training and programs on how to improve decision-making.
