Theoretical Driving Course: As a Factor in Preventing Road Rage

This paper analyzed the society’s perception toward the Theoretical Driving study regarding Theoretical Driving Course of Land Transportation (LTO) on producing intelligent drivers to prevent road rage. The researchers used a descriptive method of research to analyze the level of effect of theoretical driving courses in preventing road rage. Using the survey questionnaire, the researchers gathered data from the drivers of Public Utility Vehicles and Private Vehicles in Lucena, City. It was based on the purpose of the research which was composed of four main parts. The first part is to identify the demographic profile of the respondent. The second is to identify their perception of the Theoretical Driving Course (TDC). Third, it identified which training of Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) is most effective in preventing road rage. Lastly, to determine the effectiveness of the Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) as a factor in preventing road rage. A total of one hundred (100) individual drivers of public utility vehicles and private utility vehicles participated in the data gathering. The researchers used simple random sampling in choosing a respondent to be able to get an efficient and reliable result of the study. Results show that most drivers of both public and private vehicles belong to the age range of 36-40 years of old and most of them are male. Moreover, most drivers are married with 16-20 years of driving experience in vehicles. This training is strongly satisfied in addressing the demand of president Rodrigo Duterte, wherein according to the result, it can make the drivers more intelligent on roads. Also, the results reveal that some of the respondents are satisfied that the theoretical driving course makes the drivers more aware of preventing road rage. In addition, the result shows that the proper way to establish a path under the theoretical driving course training is most effective in preventing road rage. While navigating in the traffic light under this course is also effective, some of the respondents believe that it is slightly effective in preventing road rage. In conclusion, the effectiveness of the theoretical driving course is a strong influencer in terms of the prevention of road rage. The new requirement of the Land Transportation Office implemented in applying driver's license is effective in the prevention of road rage as the result revealed. Recommendation of the study The Land Transportation Office (LTO) together with the Local Government of Lucena and Driving Academies must conduct a program that enriches the perception of every driver concerning Theoretical Driving Course as a factor in preventing road rage. The Land Transportation Office must improve and provide high educational training of theoretical driving courses to fully enhance the driving skills of drivers. The local government of Lucena City must support the strict implementation of the new requirement of the Land Transportation Office. This would help in encouraging those applicants in getting a driver’s license to undergo in Theoretical Driving Course that would prevent road rage since Lucena City is prone to having road rage cases due to crowded vehicles.
