Contributory to Stress and Fatigue of Filipino Towards Work Performance of Filipino Seafarers Onboard

Abstract
The present study aimed to know about the contributory of stress and fatigue that have a great impact on the work performance of Filipino seafarers onboard. This research was conducted to know the factors that can lead to stress and fatigue of Filipino seafarers onboard. Stress and fatigue to seafarers can cause a lot of problems and in general, seafarers experiencing chronic stress and fatigue can them unsafe for the vessel and especially for the other crew on board. The research focused on the contributory of stress and fatigue toward work performance of Filipino seafarers onboard. The research has its quality and validity sampling of the data gathered to provide sufficient data about the various factors affecting the stress and other work-related problems of the seafarer while onboard. The researchers used a descriptive method. A three (3) part questionnaire was utilized. Respondents of the research were limited to 70 selected Filipino seafarers residing at Quezon province. A simple purposive sampling technique was applied in choosing the respondents. The researchers used a descriptive method. A three (3) part questionnaire was utilized. Results show that most maritime nowadays are male, ranging from the age of 26-30 typically single, that is in service for more or less 5 years. The most common family stressor encountered by a maritime is longing for one's home or family. The most common work stressor encountered by a maritime is having a heavy workload. Most maritime stress is also got by sea conditions. Most maritime impact of stress on work performance is insufficient rest between work periods. Hence, seafaring is a fast-growing industry in the world so that we have to give pay attention to the mental health of the seafarers who sacrifices their happiness for their family and the economy.
