Personality, Emotional Intelligence and Attitude of Seafarers towards Work Environment

Abstract
The maritime transportation process is a complex and closed system in which human factors have arisen as an important concept. Seafarers try to adapt themselves to the vessel environment and perform their tasks while creating new social interactions with each other. These social interactions can be directly shaped by the emotional intelligence trait of the seafarers. Being a seafarer requires strong mental stability and an established personality, along with an adaptive and flexible attitude. The study aimed to investigate the personality, emotional intelligence, and positive attitudes of the Filipino Seafarers towards the work environment. The study applied a quantitative-descriptive method of research. This method was used because of its appropriateness to the nature of the study. The locale of the study was in the Province of Quezon. There were 100 randomly selected Filipino Seafarers in Quezon Province who participated in the study, for they are the ones who have at least 2 years of experience onboard. Results show that
