CHALLENGES OF FILIPINO SEAFARERS ONBOARD: BASIS FOR WORK LIFE BALANCE

Abstract
This study aimed to determine the challenges of the Filipino seafarers to achieve work-life balance. This study employed the descriptive survey method and simple random sampling in choosing the participants of the study. One hundred (100) seafarers of Hartmann Crew Philippines, Inc. (HCP) served as participants of the study. The researcher conducted survey questionnaire distribution for data gathering and applied frequency count, percentage, weighted mean and Pearson Correlation formula for data interpretation.
Based on the findings, there are several challenges that every seafarer faces in their lives onboard. Homesickness was the most common challenge onboard identified by the respondents while strengthening their relationship onboard is the most utilized strategy they use to deal with the challenges.
